Escrow & Protection Policy

Last updated: June 2026 · Republic of Iraq

This document describes how Buildify's escrow system works and how it protects both client funds and freelancer deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Section 1

Escrow Mechanism

When a Client accepts a freelancer's proposal, the full milestone budget amount is charged and held securely by Buildify as an intermediary escrow agent. The funds are not transferred to the freelancer at this stage — they are locked in a protected escrow account until the agreed deliverables are confirmed as complete by the Client.

Section 2

Protection of Work

Freelancers are legally protected from non-payment; work should only commence once the platform workspace indicates that the funds are securely locked in the escrow status. Commencing work before the escrow lock is confirmed is at the freelancer's own risk and Buildify cannot guarantee payment for work performed prior to escrow activation.

Section 3

Fund Release

Funds are exclusively released to the freelancer's wallet upon the Client clicking "Approve and Release Deliverables." Upon release, the platform's service commission (currently 10%) is deducted and the net amount is credited to the freelancer's available wallet balance, from which they may initiate a withdrawal at any time.

Section 4

Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute where work is incomplete or unsatisfactory, either party may request arbitration through the platform. Buildify reserves the right to freeze the escrowed funds for up to 14 days while an independent evaluation of the project artifacts and deliverables is conducted under standard Iraqi contract law provisions. The final arbitration decision is binding on both parties.

Platform Commission: Buildify charges a 10% service commission on the total order value upon completion. This commission covers operational costs, escrow services, and payment processing.
Governing Law: This policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Iraq, including provisions of the Iraqi Civil Code governing service contracts and electronic transactions.
